Depression and Cyclothymia

I was diagnosed over 15 years ago with a condition called cyclothymia. I have been on and off antidepressants since I was a teenager. I am currently on a serotonin reuptake inhibitor, and doing very well. I anticipate that I'll always be on antidepressants, as I only feel remotely 'normal' when I'm taking them.

Unfortunately, my mother-in-law was never able to find relief for her depression. Please take the time to read her story. It's a very important one.

For Louise: A Memorial to my Mother-in-law

The links below provide great resources for dealing with depression. If you, or someone you care about, is experiencing difficulty coping with mental illness, depression, anxiety or other problems, **please** contact your local Mental Health Center or a health care professional now! Please, for your own sake, and for the sake of the other people in your life, let someone help you. If you're having trouble coping with life right now, please use these to get more information! And get help locally, too. The Internet is no substitute for real, live people who can see that you get the help you need to feel like life is worth living again. I know what it's like to be in that black hole where you think that nothing can ever get better, that there's no reason to hope. Believe me, though, there is reason to hope, and you can get better!
