This subject is hard for many, in that it means so many things to many different people. I've already said a lot on the subject of religion on a few other pages on the site, but I just have to repeat it here: It's important that we all learn to tolerate each other's views on this subject. There are many paths to a Supreme Being, many different beliefs in a Higher Power. Even the name of that being, or beings, varies from one belief system to another. Many people feel that their religious beliefs give them the right to force their beliefs on others, based on the fact that their particular faith is indicated in their sacred writings to be the one, true path, the only way. Because of that, they think that it's their job to do anything to "convert" the masses so that they believe the same way. I know that this will come as a shock to some folks, but that's not the case. It is not your job to harangue or harass others in an attempt to bring them to your way of thinking. It most certainly is not your job to pass legislation that will force your belief system on others. You may share your views at appropriate times, and in appropriate places. Cornering your friends and coworkers is not likely to produce the response you are seeking. If your friends are interested in your faith, they'll ask. LIve your faith, and show others what makes your belief system special to you by the way you live your life, by the way you care for others, and by the way you treat people. Ok, that's the end of the speech. If your interested in finding out more about religious tolerance, or learning more about organizations that want to further that cause, check out the Religious Tolerance page. For those of you searching for something in which to believe, searching for that something inside or outside yourself to give your life more meaning, know that you are not alone. You may have been brought up in a church or faith that no longer seems to fit with who you are and what truly matters to you. Many others share that search. Some of us view the search as a lifelong process, and are continually growing and changing. The links below can be a good place to start to learn about sprituality that isn't tied to a given belief system. Some of the sites may have descriptions or resources for many different ways to come to faith. Go and visit, and as with most things in life, take what you need and leave the rest. I simply must add that it took a LOT of searching to find these sites. I went to sooooo many web sites. There's a lot of junk out there on the web under the guise of spirituality!!
